Chairman’s Spring Message

Here we are as the clocks move forward and the prospect of the new season begins to look that much closer albeit with covid always in the background.

I am glad to say that given we only had half a season last year all the incumbents of the club’s official posts have agreed to stay on through 2021 with only a couple of exceptions. I think that this is only fair considering the strain that was put on to most of these officers during a season of turmoil and shifting sands and rules!

Obviously, we are not in a position to hold a pre-season meeting this year as we are still under the rule of 6! That being said, I have asked some of the officers to put a brief report together to show where we stand as a club at present.

Nets have started and again, are under the same rule of 6 restrictions. Please use the Club Whatsapp to make appropriate arrangements.

The Season is just around the corner and as things stand we will be playing under the same conditions and restrictions as last year so the club indoor facility is restricted to toilet facilities only. Please remember to turn up at the ground “ready to play”

Our first Official fixture is on the 17th of April, so please get availabilities into Mansur by the 13th of April.

Subscriptions this year revert to a full season’s £120.00. As in previous years, if you have trouble in paying this as a single lump sum please contact Sushil or myself and we can try to make a payment plan. Please remember it is a club policy to give preference those players that have paid their SubscriptionSubscriptions should be paid in by the start of the League Season in Early May.

Match fees will remain at £10 this year (£4 junior and unwaged)I am aware that in previous years we may have had discounts for match fees, but due to the state of the club’s finances we are not in a position to apply any discounts in 2021, and so full match fees by all players will be required for each game.

Official Club kit can still be purchased from our Club shop at this link

I would like to take this opportunity to pay Tribute to my friend Mark Archer who we sadly lost recently. As you will know Mark had been battling Lymphoma for the last couple of years. He was a lovely man who loved his cricket and played the game in the right way with a smile on his face. With this in mind we will be holding a Fund Raising memorial game on Sunday the 11th of July to raise funds for Lymphoma Research.

In addition, it was decided to rename a couple of the Annual Awards, the Wicketkeeping Award has been renamed the Mark Archer Award and the Clubman award has been renamed the Andy Burnham Award.

Finally, here is to looking forward to a great season for the club. Get those whites out! I’m off to find mine in the bottom of the wardrobe now.

All the best,

Chairman Chris.
